Board size problem

2016/7/22 14:39:19

Question
Hi, I have just seen a secondhand board on sale in a local shop. I have checked the gear and it's all in good condition. However, the board is 288cm by 58cm and 120L in volume.
(Mistral Explosion)

I am worried that this is too small for me. I am 192cm (6'3") and 94kg (206 lb). I used to windsurf many years ago but haven't for about 6 or 7 years. When I did windsurf I could beach start fine but never quite got to the point of water starting. I would love to get into it but don't want to end up with a board that I just can't use.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Peter

Answer
This size would be a tad small for your size weight and experience.  I think you would feel better and have more fun on a board in the 150 L range.  This would be a good size for light to medium wind depending on the sail sizes you use. The 120L board would be better for sailing in medium winds for you.
