OBrien Windsufer

Question
I have an O'Brien Competitor Poly Lite Plus windsurfer that's been in my garage for 6 years, from an old roommate who has not returned to claim it, and want to sell it.  How could I find out what it's worth?  It looks like its in good shape.  Any info you could give me would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
Hey Rosemary,

Unfortunately there is no blue book pricing for old windsurf gear. It's usually whatever the seller can get a buyer to pay. Another unfortunate for you is that O'Brien boards were never great boards and old ones are worth almost nothing. You could try to get $25-50 for it but you may end up giving it to a kids summer camp or similar and claiming a tax write off of $50-75 for a charitable donation. Try posting it on craigslist or ebay but don't be surprised if it doesn't sell. I'm not trying to discourage you, just being honest about the value of the board.

Hope this helps.
