Broken joint and board repair.

2016/7/22 14:41:53

Question
I just bought a Bic windsurfer that is approximately 30 yrs. old and it is missing the rubber hourglass joint. Where would I find a replacement part? The board also has a small one inch gash on the bottom. What would be the best way to repair this? Thanks -Brian

Answer
Hey Brian,

Here are some links for parts and repair stuff to get you back on the water;

For the hourglass;
http://www.oceanairsports.com/prod/BogeJoint117.cfm?InventoryID=117&CategoryID=8...

Or:

In case you need to replace your bolts/studs;
http://www.oceanairsports.com/prod/ThreadedInsertStud139.cfm?InventoryID=139&Cat...

You can get replacement nuts at a hardware store. Look for the type that have the nylon bushing to help prevent the nut from loosening. Also good to use a little Blue locktight (blue is removable, red is permanent). You could also reuse your nuts, they should be the same thread pattern as the new studs.
Just remember that the new studs will be METRIC thread as they are made in Germany.

For the board repair;

How to fix the board;
http://www.boardlady.com/fieldrepairs.htm

Where to get Ding Stick; click and scroll down,

This should get you back on the water.
Hope this helps.

Keep on sailing,
