F2 info

Question
Hello

I bought a old F2 COMET SLALOM last week in a Police aution for my son and I`m going to need some parts, they only gave me the board, sail, mast and boom, but I noticed later that the base for the mast were missing.

Where can I found them or what you recomend me to to?.

Thank you for your help

Joe

Answer
Hey Joe,

I don't remember that specific board very well so I don't know what type of mast track it has. If you could send a picture of the mast track area I could determine what you would need. I would need to see just the track area.

If there is a standard type mast track on the board, then a standard mast base will work. A standard mast track is just a slot in the board with a wide area at the back end for the slider nut to fit into and when you tighten the base to the slider nut, the base is in a fixed position.

Your board might have an adjustable mast track that allows the mast base to move while sailing. Some of these types have two holes in the carriage that accept either a pin or a threaded mast base. A standard mast base would fit the threaded hole.

If it is a really old model that requires a F2 specific mast base, it will be difficult to find a base to fit as they are not made any more. You might get lucky finding one on craigslist or ebay.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
