Hello Windlover,
I have just purchased a complete bic hard rock i found this board and sail for a steal and unfortunatly i am missing a part or parts i am not sure. I have never windsurfed but it looks like a blast and i am very excited to get out on the water but i am having trouble finding the missing part. from the pictures that i attach i hope you could point me in the right direction of what i need and where to find it.

Thank you
Riley

Answer
Hey Riley,

I'm guessing you are needing a mast base. But, you will need a base with a pin that will go into the hole and the wire clip will slide into a slot on the pin and hold the mast base to the board.

Go here, www.chinooksailing.com to find base parts. You could get a whole base and then just swap out the threaded stud for a pin. You may be able to use the US base type with the slotted pin in your board. You would need to measure the hole and how deep the wire clip is and then ask Chinook for the dimensions on the US base pin. If they match up your problem is easily solved.

If they don't match up, you will need a pin that has the slot further down. That type of pin can be found at www.bigwinds.com. You need to email or call them to get the pin. The problem with this pin is that it is machined and threaded for 10mm and the u-joints are all threaded for 8mm. It is a bit of a chore but you can drill the 8mm out and rethread for a 10mm. I've had to do this recently to keep and older Mistral Equipe going and it is working just fine. When you thread a new pin into a u-joint, be sure to use some BLUE locktight to secure the pin.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
