head-cap repair

Question
Hi, I'm new to windsurfing and don't care to spend a lot of money. I'm using an old Fanatic 100 board, but the other day while rigging up the sail, I may have rigged the base too tight and while rigging to the boom the mast broke through the old rope style head-cap which was probably in poor shape to begin with. My question is, can I have this repair made by a dry cleaning shop in my area or possibly by a boat, tent canvas repair shop? I understand the importance of strength in the head-cap, but there isn't a list shop for this type of stuff in MN. If the price will be more than $50 I may just buy a new sail. thank you

Answer
Hey Brent,

A sailboat shop that does sail repair may be able to fix that head cap for you. Possibly a tent shop. Try this place for some possible leads on where to take it locally.

SOUTHPORT RIGGING
2926 75TH STREET

If you have no luck there, there are places out here in the Gorge that can definitely do the repair work for you. You would have to pay shipping and repair fees so if it comes to that, you may find another sail to replace it for a comparable price via craigslist or ebay. So try your local area and if you have to, check the price of sending it to the Gorge and then make a decision. If you need to know of sail repair shops out here, let me know.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
