Getting Back In

Question
Liked your previous answers but I'm a bit (lot) heavier than most. I sail in the Great Lakes, mostly Georgian Bay. Don't sail unless it is blowing. Haven't sailed since my mid twenties (mid-thirties now) on a 9'6 custom. Was jibing with about 70% regularity. Going to equip myself with new stuff but I weigh 245 pounds and I'm 6'2 now. Planning to have sails around 5.7 and 6.8 or bigger if needed. How many litres volume do I need in board. I want some responsiveness as I do have some experience. Do any manufacturers have boards suitable for heavier riders.

Answer
With your weight and experience I would look for boards around 130 to 140 liters if you plan on sailing only when it is blowing.  You will definitely need at least a 7 meter sail as your main sail and probably go up to 8 meter for lighter days and down to 6 meter for heavier days.  You should try to seek out some shops to demo boards or try renting different size boards to try out.
