road bike componets

Question
looking to upgrade componets on 2006 giant ocr2 has tiagra flight deck shifters tiagra front deraurilar 105rear 9speed cassete triple truvati crank can i upgrade to dura ace dreauilers front and rear using tiagra shifters what are my options  thanks

That'll be a nice upgrade.  Since the front and rear derailleurs by Shimano all have the same geometry in terms of cable movement to move the chain a certain distance, you can upgrade the derailleurs.  What you can't upgrade is the shifters (which for Dura Ace are 10-speed rear).  You also can't upgrade to SRAM, because the SRAM shifting geometry of the rear derailleurs is significantly different.

Considering the expense of Dura Ace derailleurs, you may not get as much bang for the buck with DA as with Ultegra, because DA doesn't shift a so much better than Ultegra as to justify its price.  What you are paying for is less weight, which will not make as much difference for the money as, say, a lighter set of wheels or lighter,or better shifting system (front/rear shifters and new 10-speed cassette) with Ultegra.  It all depends on how much you have to spend and what your goal is.  I generally go with better shifting over less weight, so when I upgraded one of my bikes from 105, I got the Ultegra shifters, derailleurs and a new cassette, but left the 105 brakes and cranks.

Write me back with your budget or goals and I can help,

Graeme
