Trek Bike Value: Assessing the Worth of a 2000 Carbon Full-Suspension Bike

In 2000 @ X-mas time, I bought a brand new Trek Bike, carbon, full suspension, very light and racy, bright yellow, and I paid $3,000 for it.  I rode it three times and have kept in in a closet since then.

I decided to sell it and had a buyer who wanted it.  I asked $2,000 and he has come back to me and says it's barely worth anything because technology has so been updated....

Where can I find the fair market value of this bike?  Or do you know and can write back in this regard?

Hi Mabelle,

well the bike did loose some value for sure....but it is worth something after all!  For an exact estimate, I would suggest:

- find a local bike shop that sells Trek
- go and ask questions on mountain biking newsgroup
