Buying a Used Road Bike Under $700: Size & Suitability
Question
Hi there.
I have been taking some spin classes at my gym and am now interested in a new hobby: road cycling. I can't afford an expensive bike and could spend the max of $700.
I am 5'7" and have become aware of the importance of the bike size.
I found a used bike in a classified/Ebay type thing that is 50cm (weighs about 20-22 lbs.). I was told I should be getting a 52cm. My pants inseam is a 29/30.
Would that bike size suit me? Any problems you would foresee?
Answer
Hello Tre,
I believe that the size in height isnt that important, but the length of the frame between saddle and steer.
Go to a good local bike store where they have a lot of experience and ask them to mesure you.
With these information you can buy anything (almost) on the web.
Kind regards.
