buy a sports bicycle

Hello sir,
I am indeed very happy to get connected to you.I am a enginnering student.I want to buy a ladies sports bicycle..should be stylish,trendy,and durable..My budget is Rs 5000-Rs 6000..I am from INdia...$100 -$150 is my budget..as im still a student..can you help me choose one..im not very aware of sport brands  or anything..My purpose is to just use it on road..please reply..

Hi Ankita,

I don't have any way of knowing what the average cost of bikes in India would be and what a good bike would go for. In the US you would have to go for a Department Store Bike for the budget you have. Are you currently in India or are you in the US going to college and needing a ride here?

You may find someone at college that has a good used bike for sale, but be very careful. Your budget is pretty low to get a bike shop bike, but check them out anyway. In our shop we take trades and sometimes people will trade in pretty good bikes because hey want the newer flashier more bells and whistles model, we sell these for the trade in amount which can be pretty reasonable.

If you are in the US and want a new Bike a Wal-Mart bike would probably be a good choice. Or you may want to check the Goodwill stores for a used bike if you are mechanically inclined as it will probably need some repairs, which may run more than the cost of the bike.  

If you are doing mostly or all road riding a cruiser style, hybrid, or road bike would be fine. There are also bikes known as comfort bikes.

I would check out the local department stores and the bike shops, ask questions at the shop and let them know exactly what you are planning on doing with the bike.
