capacity plate

Question
Mr Blanchet; I purched a used 1994 Riviera Cruiser 20 ft. pontoon boat. It has no capacity plate anywhere. If the law requires one how can I get one or do I need one. The builder is no longer in business, can I get one elsewhere?
Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you.

Answer
Hi Joseph...thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question. Unfortunately, you didn't specify your country.

Yes, all vessels operated within Canada and the US require a capacity plate to be affixed to the vessel, usually near the helm. If it doesn't have one, contact the Coast Guard and they'll guide you to acquiring the proper credential.
