Alarm Buzzer

Question
Hi,

I took my boat out this saturday and the boat ran fine, no problems.  Howerver, the next day i went out to flush the engine with the garden hose muffs and turn the key to the "on" position and i got the constant alarm.  The owner's manual says that this is caused by the engine overheating, but my engine has not be turned on for over 12 hours.  I also started it and it runs fine.  Any suggestions as to way the alarm is going off?  I checked for any unplugged wires or wires that could have come ungrounded but did not see anything.  It seems like something has happened while I was traveling home with the boat.  Also, where is the temp. senor located?

Thanks for the help!

Answer
Hi Chris...Thanks for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question. Unfortunately, you didn't specify whether your engine is an outboard or an I/O.

I'm not a mechanic but, is it possible the impeller (on an o/b motor) could be defective or considerably worn? Have you checked the fresh water intake to ensure there is no foreign matter or obstructions? My recommendation is to consult a qualified and reliable marine mechanic who is familiar with make of your engine.
