Outdrive problems

Question
Few days ago while on entering idle zone to slip placed engines into neutral. When attempting to gear up for approach though, starboard drive did not engage. Engine did rev but drive still did not engage in forward nor reverse. Inspection of unit shows no indication of damage and all fluids good.

Answer
Hi Richard...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

It sounds like you may have a clutch problem. Perhaps the shift cable is faulty. Maybe the clutch has seized on the shaft or a bearing has seized, preventing the clutch from sliding and engaging.

Best you consult a reliable/qualified marine mechanic.
