Troubleshooting Boat Plane Issues: 1989 Bass Tracker FS1800

Question
I bought a 1989 Bass Tracker FS1800 with a 110hp outboard. last summer. I took it straigt to a dealer and had them check everything over before I took it to Minnesota on a fishing trip. When I arrived I went to take it on a maiden voyage when I could not get it to plane out. The motor was trimmed all the way in and I tried to progressively get it up and I also tried to hole shot it but it just wouldn't do it. as soon as I put a guy in the front of the boat it shot right up on plane. Any suggestions on what is going on and what i could do to fix it.

Thanks

Dennis

Answer
Hi Dennis

Thank you for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

The problem is not a lack of horsepower, but in all likelihood an incorrect propeller. Check the pitch (angle of cupping on blades) and diameter (width of prop), then consult a reliable marina or Tracker dealer to obtain their recommendation. Simply put, you're not getting enough thrust or propulsion to permit the boat to plane.
