5.7L Engine Won't Start - Troubleshooting & Advice

Hi! I have a 5.7 io with an omc outdrive. I have a problem starting the engine. Here are some facts,the motor turns over ok, seems like it starts but dies, this happened overnight, ran one day and the next day it would not. I have been fighting with it for two days and can't get it started, can you possibly give me some advice I would really appreciate any help, thanks. george

I'm not a mechanic, however, I believe your engine has an electronic choke, and suggest you have a mechanic check it out. The diode might have failed. Are you certain your fuel tank isn't contaminated with water? Have you verified all fuel lines are clear of obstructions and not kinked. Is the fuel filter clogged? Are the spark plugs secure? If all else fails, I recommend taking the unit to a qualified marine service facility.
