Delco CD Player Not Working - Troubleshooting & Repair
Question
I have a 97 Suburban with a DELCO CD unit that stopped working. The model number on the unit is 16180015. I just recently started playing CD-R's and the unit worked fine for a couple of weeks, then it stopped working. The CD unit accepts a CD then after 15 seconds ejects it and displays ERR on the radio. Now the unit will not play CD-R's or original CD's. What could the problem be?
Answer
Jim,
The CD problem could be due to a mechanical fault or an electrical fault. With a mechanical fault the CD may not be locking completely in the play position. An electrical fault with the laser focus/tracking drives could be the problem. About the fastest way to locate the problem/cause is to have a repair shop look over the player.
