Answer -
Kenneth,
By hooking up a meter what do you want to monitor? 1-the battery voltage?  2-the charging current to the battery?
Let me know.I WOULD LIKE TO HOOK UP VOLT METER TO SEE IF THE BATTERY IS BEING CHARGED WHILE THE MOTOR IS RUNNING.    THANKS KEN

Answer
Kenneth,
What you need is a battery charge meter that measures DC current. I don't have a book on this engine, however to locate the output wire from the alternator you should trace the hot(red wire)wire from the battery to the starter and then look for a smaller red wire attached to the starter solenoid. This smaller red wire is most likely the output wire from the alternator for charging the battery. This wire may already loop back/up to the front for future hook up of a charging meter. The charging/current meter is to be inserted between this wire after you cut the wire. I will ask the service mngr at my local marina if he might have wiring info for this motor. I'll let you know.
