Mercruiser Remote Control Throttle Handle Stiffness - Troubleshooting & Solutions

I have a Quicksilver 3000 panel mount remote control on my 1993 Searay 180BR. I recently replaced the throttle cable. However, the movement of the throttle handle is now much stiffer than before. Is there a way to adjust the tension at the handle ? Or do you have any other suggestions ? (Shifting is OK.)

there is no adjustment at the control handle.you need to take it to a mercruiser dealer to set the preload at the engine where the cable connects to the drive cable.there is to much preload if the cable is stiff to shift.
