horse eating straw bedding

Question
hello sir, my dad's 2 year old thoroughbred filly is eating and chewing off wheat straw bedding when laid in its stall. is this going to be a big problem? if yes, how to stop it?

Answer
hi you can change the bedding to a saw dust or wood shavings    pea nut shells    peat moss etc. i don't think eating some of the bedding will be a problem, although if the horse eats most of the bedding overnight, then you have to change the bedding. thanks ED HESS
