comfort on dirt and sloppy tracks

2016/7/15 11:21:36

Question
hello sir, do thoroughbred racehorses really feel comfortable being exercised and raced on dirt and sloppy tracks? isn't there any tendency to slip?

Answer
The proper shoe must be fitted to the horse that will help with traction on certain surfaces. Mud caulks are sometimes used for extra traction on sloppy track. Some horses really do better on these surfaces while others can't handle them at all.  Grass is ultimately the safest and most comfortable natural surface for horses.
