fore hooves round, hind hooves oval

Question
hello madam, in thoroughbred confirmation, you said that
fore hooves should be round for flexing and the hind hooves
should be oval, especially pointed so that they can dig in
well. but, a good trainer told me that, all the hooves
should the round, especially the hind hooves, because, when
they are pointed, it leads to over reaching and may clip the
heels of fore legs, whereas if the hind hooves are round at
the toe, they maynot click the heels of fore hooves. is he
correct??

Answer
HI --ALL HORSES HAVE DIFFERENT SIZED HOOFS. SOME ROUND SOME OVAL. WHEN THE BLACKSMITH SHOES THE HORSE HE SHOES ACCORDING TO THE CONFORMATION OF THE HORSE. SO IT IS UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL TRAINER TO DECIDE AND HIS BLACKSMITH TO DECIDE HOW THEY WANT THE HORSE SHOD. MOST EVERY BLACKSMITH WILL ALWAYS ROUND OFF THE TOE AFTER SHOEING. WHEN THEY CLINCH THE NAILS , THEN THEY FILE THE HOOF AND ROUND OFF THE TOE. OVER REACHIN CAN BECAUSE OF THE HORSES CONFORMATION.. THANKS ed hess
