Question
hello sir, i posted a racing report:
"Trainer Mr. L.V.R. Deshmukh was questioned regard-ing the improved performance of his charge SPRUCESPRINGSTIEN (Vincent Colgan) as compared to its previous run in race No.18, The Lady Gibraltar Plate-Div-1 (About) 1400 Metres for horses rated 20 to 50 of Bangalore Summer Meeting 2007 when ridden by Jockey M. Narredu it ran unplaced. The trainer stated that (a) its last run was the first run after it was being gelded and that it was the first run after coming from Hyderabad; (b) as he observed that the horse came last over 1400 Metres where after being in the front bunch till the 400 Metres he gradually dropped back and he had removed blinkers and put cross nose band as per the advise of rider; (c) he had given sufficient gap after its last run; and (d) with the benefit of run and with the change of equipment it improved over its last run and won today. His explanations were noted." sir, may i know how did the horse do well when blinkers are "OFF" and cross noseband is "ON"?

Answer
HI --- A CHANGE OF EQUIPMENT WILL MAKE A HORSE RUN MUCH BETTER. SOME TRAINERS USE THE SURE WIN AND SOME USE BLINKERS. IT ALL DEPENDS ON WEATHER THE HORSE NEEDED THE EQUIPMENT CHANGE. YOU SAID HE WAS ALSO GELDED AND SOMETIME THAT PUTS HIS MIND ON RACING AND NOT THE GIRLS. THANKS Ed Hess
