training a young horse

2016/7/15 11:28:52

Question
hi my name is lisa and i have been riding for nearly 13 years. last year i broke in my own appaloosa and he is going resonably well. i worked at a few racing stables and have ridden trackwork and would like to start with my youngster as i think he has potental. how can i go about training him up before i go to a trainer in my area?

Answer
hi lisa, as long as he or she is broke to walk trot and canter and gallop, then the trainer can start training him at the race track or training facility the way he wants to train the horse. just make sure that your horse is up to a reg gallop  because if he is to race  then he has to have  a period of galloping etc.  thanks ED HESS
