horse holding breath

Question
Hello Milton. MY 5yr old gelding is not breathing properly during his gallops and races. I have tried a tounge tie on him which he hates, so i have now been thinking about trying a cornell collar on him. How can one tell if  a horse is dissplacing his palette, or flipping it. He is a competitive horse but this problem is a complete pain and very frustrating. I hope you can help us.  many thanks Margaret.

Answer
the only way to know for sure is to have him scoped right after excersize.

if hw is making noise, he may even have a paralized or slow flap.

they usually adjust to the tongue tie better if you use a figure 8, or a drop noseband with it

if you try a cornell collar, make sure the adjustment is correct or you will cut his wind off.
