Question
QUESTION: I recently purchase a young 2yr old unbroke filly,I looked her up and found the following info. Dosage profile:7-7-5-0-3  dosage index-3.0 and center of distb.:+0.68. If I were to want to race her what would be her best distance? Her registered name "sure bet belle"(AFFIRMATIVE x KIOWA SQUAW)sires sire UNBRIDLED.
THANKS
Aurelio

ANSWER: hi -- i would look up her dams race record and her sires race record to see if there is any turf breeding in her past. every horse is different and they may race at different distances  then their dam and sire. so i think as she progresses along in her training you will find the correct distance for her to race.  thanks ED HESS

QUESTION: Sir,I don't think either one of them raced, the mare was out of California and the stud was standing in Kentucky, Sir based on that dosage profile and you were  ask to be the trainer, where would you start her?on grass or dirt? She is super tall long legged and seems she could do more than one turn on the track. Unbridled being a  chef de race sire what bloodline does his progeny tend to cross well with?thanks for you help.
Aurelio

ANSWER: hi i was always a trainer and never a breeder so i am not sure what bloodlines to cross her with if you decide to breed her.  as far as where to start her, that should decided after she is trained over both dirt and turf. a flat footed horse usually runs goo on the dirt and a cupped out foot  usually runs good on turf..thanks ED HESS

QUESTION: can you tell the difference after they have been trimmed and before shoeing or can your farrier give you a better opinion on the flat vs cupped foot?

Answer
hi -- when you pick the horses foot you will notice if the horse has a flat sole which will be very flat and even with the shoe. a cupped out foot will be very deep and when you use a foot pick it will go way down into the sole. you will def see a big difference in the type of foot your horses has. thanks ED HESS
