Trotting Young Horses & Recovery: Training Guidelines & Duration
Question
Dear Mr Hess,
do You trot your young horses, and horses at recovery period while they are starting to training, and for how long?-in a day for how much days/weeks?
And when do You add canter?
Thank You, Best Regards
Answer
hi -- well you can trot the horse on a regular training schedule or trot after a operation or sickness to get the horse started back in training. a sore going horse can be trotted or pony to keep him going without hard training. i would trot a mile and a half a day for 1 month, then go to the gallop for a month at 1 1/2 miles a day, then open gallop for a month at 1 1/2 miles a day, then you can start your breezing and get ready for the race. hope that helps you . thanks ED HESS
