Becoming an Exercise Rider: A Guide for Aspiring Track Hands

hi ed,
i have a question about becoming an exercise rider. this summer id like to get a job at a track walking hots, and mucking stalls ( it would be my fisrt job at a track). I was just wondering how do you become an exercise rider? thanks for your time Rachel

hi Rachel-- you would prob have to go to a training farm where they train horses and break young horses and start there galloping horses. it will be very hard to become a exercise rider on the track with no experience. a farm is the best place to start out for you. hope this helps you. thanks ED HESS
