Horse Racing Earnings: How are Jockeys & Trainers Paid?

Hello, Mr. Hess,
I have always wondered how jockeys and trainers were paid. Is it percentage based or set fees. I have always loved horses, betting and all around. when I retire(ten years), I plan on going to oaklawn and workin up to a trainer, hopefully before i'm ninety. Thank you for your answer in advance.

hi  well  trainers work on %10 across the board  1st--2nd---3rd===4th place. jockeys also work on %10 on the win only  then they get a set fee for riding  2nd--3rd-- hope that helps you.  if you are going to become a horse trainer  then start at the bottom and work you way up. you must have a love for the horse or you will nwver become a trainer. the horse always comes first .   thnaks ED HESS
