Knee Probs

Question
Hi there John
I have been competing in various sports since I was about 13, my main sport being Rugby, I stopped playing about a year back and my sports reduced due to my studies. I have in the last year strarted running again about 3-4 times a week of varying distance anything between 2-6 miles depending on what time I have.

I am 25 years old, male and have no previous pain in my knee before the last couple of runs. The pain seems to concentrate around the front of the knee and is a little less painful if I stop and straighten my leg for a couple of seconds.

I run on road and sometimes a loose but firm surface.

Any advice would be grateful, oh I only get the pain in my right knee, my dominent foot, so to speak.

Kind Regards

Samuel

Answer
Hi Samuel
It seems like a little patella tendonitis,in which i would recomend icing after your workouts.I would not try to come back to quickely or your body is going to start talking to you like your knee has allready.Add some biking to your program to retrack your knee and strengthen quads and surrounding tissues and tendons. Also take 500mg of vit c with your 3 meals a day.If you have further questions just get in touch samuel.

All the best

John
