Running Questions

Question
Hello sir,

I could not find a track because my high school does not let non-PE students into the area.  I did try running on the streets and did a mile in about ten minutes.  I was exhausted after that.  I was so out of breath and was literally panting.

I ran three times around a block.  Is running straight for a mile different from running around several times to reach a mile?

I would also like to know how I can improve my stamina and cardiovascular strength.

Any answer will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much for your time.

-----Question-----
Hello,

I am trying to run a mile and a half within thirteen minutes.  Is this the average running time for most people running this distance?  I have tried this on a treadmill and the result was unrealistic and I can't find a way to run outside on the streets because there are too many intersections.  It is literally impossible to run continously without stopping after every block.

So, how can I improve my running performance and stamina with the limited resources that I have?

Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi Zachary
You just have to train where it is convient for you untill you can find a more appropiate place. The effort is the only thing that counts. To build a solid cardio, endurace, strength requires consistent work over time on a what ever time you have to train, and there is no time limited. You have to dig the well before you thirst. The longer your at it the improvement you will see.

All the best

John
