Calf Problems

2016/7/22 10:13:12

Question
I sent the you the question below and got the reply that you had already answered this "for me".  I have never seen that reply. I went back 3 pages in your past entries looking for calf specific questions and the only question I can find is from a marathon runner...certainly not me. I would really like to get your response. I can assure you, I never got a reply to this question.

"I can't seem to shake calf cramps. I stretch (wall pushups amongs others) before and after I run. I started at 2.25 miles. Once I reached 3 they started to occur. Once I will get them, I quit for a week or so, start running again and they intermittently come back. I have low arches and just bought the new asics foundation VI. I am waiting to recover from recent cramp (it is finally going away after 4 days) before I get going again. I am 47 years old, 6'2", 185 lbs. with an sporadic history of running, nothing consistant. Also, the cramps can occur in either calf. What can I do to get rid of and prevent these? Thanks for your help.";

Answer
Hi Jeff
Some times they have tect.problems and messages don't get delivered,but not often.First thing is you have to be consistent with your program.You didn't tell me how long you have been running.This is important.It takes time starting out.I remember the days.I would take 500mg of vit.c with your 3 meals a day along with calcium magnesium tabs.I would also go to a walk jog for a while till your body adapts to a more lengthy run.You can also develope a little massage program for them.You just have to be patient an be consistent and let the body adapt.

The very best to you

John
