Question
Sarah,
I have a question from a newbie when it comes to running. I want to begin a program of walking/running on my treadmill with the primary purpose of losing weight. Is there a specific way to train to maximize the benefits of walking/running.

Thank you
Rich

Answer
Its best to start of easy start of by running one minute then walking 2 minutes. Repeat this 5 times. After a few times of doing this you will find it becomes easy and you will begin to be able to run 2 mins walk 2 mins. Try doing this 3 -4 times a week and you will really notice the difference.

By gradually building up your time running and decreasing the amount of time walking you will appreciate it more.

Remember not to overdo it. If you feel out of breath or really tired stop and have a break. Overtraining can lead to injuries.

Light weight training can also help by toning your muscles and it also helps you to burn more fat.

Have fun and hope everything works out!
