Chronic calf pain

I'm planning to join the army in the next few months, and I've started working out again. I'm in decent shape, but I need to get in to great shape. I have a problem that could be a deal breaker though.
Every time I jog, whether outside or on a treadmill I develop calf pain. The pain is sudden, and moderate. It becomes more severe if I don't stop. It goes away after a few days.
Right now it affects my right calf, but in the past when I jogged it affected the left calf also. The pain seems to affect different parts of the calf during different occurrences. Sometimes it strikes the lower calf. Sometimes the inner calf, and sometimes the outer portion.
It usually takes about 10-15 minutes of jogging before it hits, and again it only happens when jogging. Calf raises, leg presses, elliptical, bike, and walking are all fine. Jumping can be problematic.  Recently I jumped to grab the pull up bar, and it felt like and quick electric shock.
I take a daily multivitamin.  I mildly stretch, and I warm up before I jog.
If I can't run then I can't pass the Army's fitness test.  I'm in otherwise good shape.

Hi Jim
It is hard to tell with out knowing what your program was before you started back so i'll make my recommendations.I would give yourself 30 days with no running and just use the elliptical.I would do no calf raises or jumping or leg presses.Since it doesn't start till 10 to 15 min you have definitely strained areas of the calf,but there could be many reasons how.Next i would ice your calfs for 20 minutes as often as you can especially after your workouts.Also take 500mg vit c with your three meals a day to enhance recovery of tendons ligaments and collagen.After 30 days you can give it a easy short 30 min jog no speed just nice and easy for testing.This will give your calfs time to heal up and then make decisions what to do next.
