Pain while running


Question
I am having pain in my legs mostly lower part of legs between knee and ankle mostly at back side of the bone.Whenever i try to run or jog it increases.i can feel a bit of swelling there .i am 24 yrs old and is running for last 2 months.Is it normal or should i stop running??

Dear Shanki,
Make sure you incorporate stretches in your warm-ups and stretch your calf and the back of both legs, down to your feet for at least 10 minutes. Repeat this after the run.
Try to be able to flex and stretch your foot upwards with your knee locked.
Sounds like myositis( irritation of the muscle(s) in the back of your leg)
Make sure your running shoe is higher in the heel
Try PRICE
P-protect the area with an ace wrap
Ice-on and of for up to 3 days  after a run
Compress-Mild ace wrap the area-which will also protect
Elevate-if it throbs
Max dose of Alleve or Advil for 3 days
If the pain resolves over time and is not very painful, continue to run.
If the pain increases or you have any doubts-go see a Board Certified Podiatrist in Orthopedics
