Lower leg pain

Question
Hello John,
I have been jogging for a few years off and on. I worked my way up to comfortably running 7-9 miles 6 days a week for a couple months, then moved to a more hilly part of the country where I continued running about the same amount. About a month after moving I starting getting pain in my lower legs. Assuming it was shin splints I took a couple weeks off but the pain soon came back after I resumed running. My doctor ordered an x-ray for my right knee which came back negative for stress fracture. For the last 5-6 months I have been trying to run about 6 miles 5 days a week (with new super-cushioned Asics and insoles) and have been experiencing pain in my inner lower shins. A week ago I also noticed a grape-sized painless lump where my shin meets my foot. A cyst? Any idea what's going on? I long for the time when I could run painlessly everyday. Any thoughts you might have will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
