Jock Straps and Post-Vasectomy Recovery: Do They Help with Running Discomfort?

Question
QUESTION: Hi. I just got into jogging last summer and am trying to continue training.  A few months back I got a vasectomy and (I think) allowed sufficient recovery time.  Now and then, however, a day after a run I feel that dull ache down there.  My question is, have jock straps been known to help for such situations.  It sounds quite ignorant, but I've never worn a jock strap and really don't know their purpose.  Thanks for any advice.

ANSWER: Hey,
I can't say that I know anything about vasectomies or jock straps. Sorry.
Do you need something tight, or something not tight? You might try spandex shorts if you don't want all of your junk moving around. Email me back if that's what you meant, and I can tell you about spandex.

QUESTION: Exactly.  I think the jostling around of the junk is what hurts.  I've never tried spandex and hadn't thought of that.  By all means, educate me.  Thanks!

Answer
Okay,
Well I used to wear spandex every time I ran. It really compacts the junk, and makes you feel more secure. You can find a pair of them, they're used more in biking. Here are a couple of websites.

You shouldn't have to spend more than 30 bucks.

I guess that's all there needs to be said, unless you have any more questions. I think the shorts will work.
Good luck,
Jared
