Running 7 days a week

Question
Hi John

I was reading a post where you advised some one they'd be better off running 15 minutes daily, 7 days a week rather than 30 minutes 3 times a week.  Why is it that we are always told that we must take a day off to allow our muscles to heal/rest and to avoid burn out?  Physically is 24 hours an adequate rest period rather than 48 hours?

I also wanted to ask I am living in a very flat area and street running 25 minutes 5 days a week. I do half my run with arm weights, which gives me the feeling of hill running. I read recently that this can ruin natural gait.  Is this corrert?

Thank you
Tanya

Answer
Hi Tanya
I can't speak for others about there reason for taking a day off,but it is not neccessary i assure you, unless you feel you need to for what ever reason in which it is perfectly allright. You decide the rest period if you want one.Don't use arm waits,it will interfere with your normal movement. If you want some hill work, find some stairs like maybe a local high school or college stadium.

Best to ya

John
