burning calves

Question
Hi, over the last few months I've taken up going to the gym and doing 30 mins on the treadmill. This was fine but over the last week or two I've increased my intensity and as a result about 15/20 min into my run/jog i get burning in my calves and the arches of my feet.

I don't think it's shin splints because the pain is just in the back of my calve and running on the treadmill should absorb a lot of the impact right? Anyway i was just wondering if there was any advice you could give me to reduce the burning or weather it will just go away if i keep pushing it?

Answer
Hi Ash
The one thing that will cause your situation which if your doing to much especially just getting started like you which i would guess you are,but could be wrong is over use of the incline for extended time.If that is the case just run on flat for a while or ride the bike for a while to reduce the inflammation, and also ice your calf's as often as you can.It is not  serious, but you just have to take it easy for a while.Even if just run on the flat.I would be curious to no if it was the incline for extended times Ash.You can also add 500mg vit c with food 3 times a day for enhanced recovery of tendon, ligaments and collagen.

All the best
