Calf pain during running

Question
I was going through a number of questions on this subject, but could not find a question that fit my profile. I am 25, 180lbs, 5'7. I had been running 1.5 miles, 5 days a week for about 3 months. I had a break of 6 months and now have time to start running again. However, this time I feel intense pain in my calfs after about 0.2 miles. The calves become very stiff and its very difficult to walk for a while. The pain goes away after I stop for 10 mins. I suspect my shoes. I warm up before runing (walk for 10 mins and do stretching). Any advice?

I am able to work out on the elliptical without any problems.

Answer
Hi pratik
First you have to be more consistent, otherwise you will allways experience start up problems.Second you want to strech out your calf after you have been running for 5 min and then again after workout. You can ice them also to reduce inflamation after run.Start taking 500mg vit c with your 3 meals a day.You just have to be patient and be more consistent.

Best to you

John
