Qualification

What type of qualifications are needed to become a climbing instructor? I'm curious and thinking of opening a climbing gym in my area, but wanted to know how and what to get for certifications. thank you.

Answer
To my knowledge, there is no government mandated certifications.  There are organizations such as NOLS (www.NOLS.edu) that will may give you a certificate of completion of one of their courses, but I don't believe that it's required to teach.

You may want to speak with another gym in your local area to determine if there are any local requirements though.
