Question
My friend and I want to get started into climbing and we are not sure about what all gear we should get. we know the basics such as a harness rope and carabiners, however we dont know how many not get or what else to get. What do you think we should get to get started?

Answer
Ok well it completely depends on what things you are going to be climbing. To climb at all, u will need a belay device. These can be either, a bug, a grigri and then there are lots of other belay devices on the market.
I would recomend buying a pair of climbing shoes, to create friction on the wall so that you feel safe!!
I think when you are starting this will be all you need. I would recomend sticking to easy routes in doors, and then gradually progress onto more challenging routes and climbs when you feel confident enough. Over time your technique will come and this will enable you to be more confident.
Go regularly and make sure that the equipment you do decide to buy is looked after properly.
Look after your equipment, the way that it looks after you!!
I hope i have helped!!
There are many web sites that give you information on how to get started along with many excellent books that are worth a read, before going climbing.
Good Luck!! Let me know how you come along!!
