Number of new routes

Question
I know that rock climbing is a growing sport, but how fast is it growing? I really am interested in how many new routes (sport or otherwise) are created each year, month, whatever, but I haven't been able to find this information after an hour or so of searching online. Can you help me out and point me to where you found this info?

That's hard to say, however, here in the Tucson there have been at least a few hundred new routes put up over the past five years.
You could go to www.mountainproject.com and post the same question in areas such as Colorado and California for additional information.
