Good freshman erg time?

2016/7/22 9:47:37

Question
I am a freshman in highschool and I have been rowing (on the water) since September.  I am 5' 11 and weigh 125 pounds.  My first, and most recent, erg 2k was 7:40 (1:55.0 split).  Is that a good beginner score?

Answer
Hi Tyler: It's a good score considering your weight and experience.  It's a second or two above the mean (average) time for 14-15 year old male lightweights per the Concept II database.

With 10-20 more pounds of muscle and more race experience under your belt, I can see you getting down to 7:25.

Good Luck/AP
