2K times for heavyweight girls

Question
I am a sophomore in high school completing my novice year, after rowing spring summer and fall. My current 2k time is a 7:44, but I have been consistently dropping by around seven seconds for the past few weeks. I weigh about 155, and am a little over 5.5 feet. I have entered times into the junior national team testing service, but do not know if I have a shot. Given this information, do you think I have a chance to get into dev camp or to eventually get recruited to a top college crew?

Answer
Hi Hannah: Your time is very good.  You are in the Top-20% for girls your age.  I thing you are getting pretty close to a National Team time.  Shoot for 7:36, which would put you in the Top-10%.

You also have a good chance of getting a rowing scholarship.  You might need to demonstrate some more experience and success in actual on-water events.

Good Luck/AP
