Scholarships for LWT men

Question
Hello, I am a 15 year old guy who has been high school rowing for 3 years now. I am 135 lbs and have an erg score of 7:14.4. I was wondering what erg time I would have to break in order to be noticed for a scholarship as a LWT.

Answer
Hi Evan: Sorry for the late response.  Your e-mail ended up in my Junk Folder.

Your time is above the median time of 7:26.8 for lightweights your age.  To get in the Top-20%, you need to break 7:00.  That's what you need to shoot for.  However, getting recruited for a scholarship is very competitive and usually requires a strong on-water resume, as well as a great erg time.
