Womens Rowing - Ivy standards?

Hi, I am a 5'11" sophomore in high school, and today I pulled a 7:38 on my 2K test. I would really love to go to an Ivy League university, and I was wondering if their standards were any higher and if you think those standards would be attainable for me?

Hi Erin: Your erg time is excellent.  For women your age, you are in the Top-15%.  Typically Ivy League schools are looking for rowers who are in that percentile.  But it takes more than erg scores.  These coaches also want experienced rowers, with on-water racing success, on their resumes to compete for seats in the Freshman Varsity boat.  I don't know how much racing experience you have.

Ivy League schools are extremely competitive when it comes to selection.  First and foremost, you have to have outstanding grades (3.75 GPA or better) and a great SAT score as well (at least a 2100).  Since Ivy League schools do not give out athletic scholarships, the academics is much more important.  The good news is that if you have really good grades, the Ivys look at things like extracurricular activities.  Being on crew could be a huge plus if you are up against equally qualified candidates who lack the athletic participation.
