Question
Hi,

I'm 26 years old, 5'6 and 128lbs. I tried a rowing machine for the first time and my 5K time is 22:57. Though I started rowing really slow through the end since I guess I don't have really strong arms. Is there a way to know it's below or above average? My husband is 153lbs and 5'11. His score is 21:48. Can I say that I'm better than him since I'm a woman and weigh less? :)

I checked the old answers and saw that you get your numbers from comcept2 website but I couldn't find where exactly. Could you please provide a link if possible so I can check by myself in the future.

Answer
Hi Liz: For lightweight rowers your age, your time is above average.  The median time is 23:39.

Your husband's time is in the 35th to 40th percentile for men between 25-29.  The median time is 20:55. So I guess from a gender-standing standpoint, you have bragging rights.
