Playa ProPlugs

Question
Hi James,

I read one of your responses regarding ProPlugs and I wondered if you could help me out.  I live in Playa too and have just started diving but my ears often give me hassle.  I'd like to get hold of some vented earplugs to see if they help and I just wanted to know if you know of any stockists around here.

Thanks,

Olly

Answer
Hey Olly,

I don't know much about these ear plugs or anywhere to find them in Playa... I honestly doubt they are around.

However, I doubt you really need them.  This is something that you get much better with as you learn how your ears work with more experience.  My experience with students is that most people wait too late to clear.

Clear on the boat.  Clear before entering.  Clear at the surface.  Always be clearing.  Do not proceed deeper without clearing, just the opposite of what most people do, which is to clear when they NEED to clear.  Clear BEFORE you need to clear, and you'll get to the point where you can clear without even touching your nose, just merely blowing against the airspace seal of your mask, which is always at the correct pressure of your surroundings.  ;)

HTH,
saludos
