SCUBA repair

2016/7/22 10:36:28

Question
How much per reg can a repair tech expect to make?

Answer
Barney,

While repairs/overhauls of regulators are usually priced per stage of the regulator, repair techs are almost always employed at an hourly wage.  This is because the manufacturers require service of their equipment to be carried out at authorized dealers, i.e. dive shops.

It would not be possible to set up a business solely to service SCUBA equipment.  The manufacturers will only sell the parts needed to service the equipment to their authorized dealers.

A dive shop owner might consider paying repair techs by the piece, but that would be highly unlikely.

I hope this helps, but feel free to come back for with more questions if you like.
